Eckerd Raising Hope

We are excited to announce that this year our Board has approved Eckerd Raising Hope as our Community Service Project!
Eckerd Community Alternatives Director of Prevention/Diversion, Kelly Rossi, will be joining us as our guest speaker at our September 11th meeting to explain the importance of this project. For more information, please visit www.eckerdraisinghope.org
Become a Hope Raiser! Children often enter the foster care system with just the clothes on their backs, seldom have a toothbrush and carry the few belongings they have in a trash bag. State funds often fall short of supplying children daily needed essentials, and that is where you can help! The committee is really looking forward to the contributions GBYWS can make to Eckerd Raising Hope and the support it will lend to our children in foster care!
Eckerd Raising Hope offers these children a room where children/teens can “shop” for new clothes, shoes, hygiene items and school supplies. Each child also receives a new duffel bag for their belongings. Our rooms do more than just meet the emergency needs of foster children; they actually help them retain their pride and dignity, and give them hope during a traumatic time in their lives.
GBYWS Community Service Project’s primary focus with Eckerd Raising Hope will be to collect items and/or to raise money to stock the “Room of Hope.” If you would like to plan ahead and do some shopping, we will collect the following items at our Thursday, October 2nd meeting:
We are looking forward to working with our membership in making a difference for the children in the community where we work and live.
