~Community Service Projects~
2012-2013
The Abilities Guild of the Abilities Foundation located in Clearwater as our community service project for the 2012-2013 year! The primary focus of the Abilities Guide has been to help our returning Iraq and Afghanistan wounded veterans by raising money, helping with job placement, and more recently by collecting supplies for their newly-opened Veterans Mall which distributes gently used items.
Service Projects and GBY will work with The Abilities Guild by collecting supplies for the Veterans Mall at our October meeting, and through various fundraiser activities which will be announced at various times throughout the year. An Abilities Guild board member Dan Mattee and Veterans Mall founder Virginia Meyer will join us at our September general meeting to tell members more about the foundation and how the society will be helping.
A complete list of items needed for the mall will be listed in October’s newsletter which will be available on this website by mid-September. If you are interested in getting a head start, typically the Mall looks for gently used or new items such as towels, sheets, blankets, dishes, flatware, glasses, and professional men’s clothing.
The veterans that AG has committed to help have personally sacrificed a tremendous amount for us and our country. We look forward to helping these young men and women any way we can to show our gratitude and appreciation for their service! Let’s plan together for having a 100% participation this year from all of our society members.
